You can install Ubuntu 9.04, under Windows with the Wubi installer

To keep Windows as it is, Wubi only adds an extra option to boot Ubuntu. Wubi does not require re-partition it to your PC, or use a different bootloader and can not install special drivers. It works like any other application.
Wubi keeps most of the files in a folder, and if you want, you can simply uninstall it like any other application.

You still can install Ubuntu from a live album and the use of Windows in a virtual machine. Getting rid of Windows is not as bad as you think!
